About Ramadan Activities

February 18, 2026

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

During the Coronavirus era, Kyoto Prefecture and the City of Kyoto requested its citizens and visitors to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of the desease.

Al-hamdu li-Allah SWT, the serious Coronavirus era is over, though the disease is not completely wiped out. During the serious era, we took necessary restrictions on our activites, based on the official guidelines, and also based on the Islamic teachings on the importance of life and health.

The management of Kyoto Grand Mosque has been carefully taking care of prayer and mosque affairs for many years.

For this holy month of Ramadan, we hold community Iftaar at sunset on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

We pray together Maghrib, Isha, and Taraweeh prayers every day after sunset in Kyoto Grand Mosque.

We will also hold I'tikaf in the last third of Ramadan in the Mosque. However, due to the agreement with the neighbors, we have certain rules for performing I'tikaf without disturbing our neighbors. So, please get in tough with the management, if you would like to participate in I'tikaf.

As for Eid al-Fitr, we will pray together in a public place if the Eid coincides with the holiday on March 20, 2026. Otherwise, we will pray it at our Kyoto Grand Mosque.

With our best wishes to you all for this holy month. Wassalaam.
